First-military-station-named-after-living-legend.jpg
On April 15, 2016, Panagarh airbase was renamed Air Force Station Arjan Singh after the first Marshal of the Air Force, Arjan Singh who is the only living Indian soldier with the five-star rank. The renaming was a birthday gift to the the legend on his 97th birthday. This is a rare honour for the man who led the IAF in the 1965 war since military stations are generally not named after people, especially those still living.
