 The first all-woman sailing crew had six women naval officers from Goa, who took Navy’s only ocean-going sailboat, INSV Mhadei for a voyage to Mauritius starting May 24, 2016. They reached Port Louis on June 14, 2016 and returned to Goa on July 14, 2016. The crew covered over five thousand nautical miles through treacherous monsoon seas and heavy winds. Skipper Lt Cdr Vartika Joshi, a naval architect had Lt B Aishwarya, Lt P Swathi, Lt PratibhaJamwal, Lt Vijaya and S/Lt Payal Gupta as a team. They have been trained by Cdr Dilip Donde.
