INS Vajrakosh, the biggest naval missile station was inaugurated on Sept 9, 2015. With the neighbouring INS Kadamba, these two establishments are the world’s largest naval base east of the Suez Canal. As the name signifies, it is the biggest missile, ammunition and spares dump in the region and can equip all categories of warships and airplanes. The base will have two aircraft carriers, INS Vikramaditya and the indigenously built INS Vikrant. The extent of its size is apparent from the fact that it will also hold over 20 submarines in underground pens and 47 warships, the largest pen in India.
