Carbonated water

Carbonated water, also known as soda water, sparkling water, is water containing carbon dioxide under pressure and may contain any of the permitted ingredients and additives allowed by Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. The water used in carbonated water conforms to the quality of packaged drinking water in India.


Sugar or sucrose is a nutritive sweetener, which is used to sweeten our beverages and it provides calories. In India sugar is mostly made from sugar cane.  One gram of Sugar or sucrose provides 4 Calories (Kcal).

Acidity Regulator (Citric acid, Phosphoric acid)

Citric acid is the most widely used Acidity regulator in the food industry and has been used for several years in food and beverage. Citric acid is commonly found in citrus fruits such as lemon, orange. Citric acid is used in beverages to provide tartness for desirable taste. Phosphoric acid is a food grade acid which is used for providing tartness for desirable strong taste.

Grape Juice

Grape juice is obtained from the processing of Grape fruits.

Stabilizers (452(i))

Polyphosphates are added in beverages as stabilizers to provide the desired texture .

Preservative (Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate)

Preservatives are added in beverage to protect the taste and quality of the product.

Permitted Natural Colour (Caramel colour)

Caramel is used in beverage as a permitted natural colour as specified in the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.  Caramel is made by a process involving the heating of carbohydrates like sugar, corn in a controlled temperature to get the desired colour.

Synthetic Food Colours (Tartrazine, Ponceau 4R, Carmoisine, Brilliant Blue)

Tartrazine, Ponceau 4R, Carmoisine, Brilliant Blue are used as colouring agents and they are classified as synthetic colours as per Food Standards and Safety Authority of India (FSSAI). The combination of these colours impart the characteristic appearance to the drink.

Nature-identical flavoring substances

Nature-identical flavoring substances means substances chemically isolated from aromatic raw materials or obtained synthetically; they are chemically identical to substances present in natural products intended for human consumption, either processed or not. They are added to provide the characteristic taste to the beverages.
