The Bidadi plant of Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) has been awarded a five star rating by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Environment, Health and Safety Awards 2017.

The recognition is based on stringent evaluation criteria and audit of the Bidadi plant’s environment, health and safety (EHS) practices. The five star rating confirms that the plant adheres to the best practices in environment, health and safety.

HCCB emerged the winner from among the 138 manufacturing industries, who had nominated themselves to be considered for the awards.

“We consider this an endorsement of our quality, safety and environment practices at the Company. This recognition will motivate us to raise the bar even higher. Excellence in EHS practices is critical for us both from business and sustainability viewpoints”, Bheemanappa Manthale, Factory Manager, Bidadi Plant said.

The Bidadi factory of HCCB is a state-of-the-art factory and one of the earliest ones to have been established in the Bidadi Industrial Area, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The factory produces Maaza and Minute Maid range of juices, Kinley packaged and soda water and the entire range of sparkling drinks.

The Bidadi plant has always taken the extra step towards environment, health and safety. It is also a zero discharge plant and uses treated waste water for secondary purposes and land application - within the factory and the nearby green belt. With over 700 people workers, the plant uses solar power and clean energy, in addition to conventional sources of power to meet its energy requirements.
