“If we talk about the education system in our country, the major challenge which we face currently is the lack of basic amenities like toilets, access to water and basic infrastructure which creates an unwelcoming and unconducive environment in government schools. This leads to high rates of absenteeism, which results in children dropping out of school especially girl child. I am happy and thankful to Coca-Cola India for their commendable Support My School initiative which will help retain students in schools and also contributing extensively to ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission,” said Smt. Maya Singh, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Urban Development & Housing, Govt. of Madhya Pradesh.

Dr. Y. Suresh Reddy, Director, SRF Foundation added, “It has been a great experience partnering with Coca-Cola India on the Support My School (SMS) initiative. With our collaborative efforts we have tried to bring about a positive change in the lives of more than 4200 children, from 17 government schools in Gwalior, Bhind and Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. Our initiatives specifically emphasize on provision of sanitation facilities, access to water and sports as key areas of intervention. We need more such initiatives to help holistic growth of children in schools across the nation.”

Mrs. ‎Shubha Sekhar, Director and Head- CSR & Sustainability, Coca-Cola India & Southwest Asia said, “We are committed towards building holistic, happy and healthy society. Making positive interventions at schools is an important aspect of that commitment. The Support My School campaign in the last 6 years has had more than 50 partners in more than 20 states across India. We have been able to positively impact more than 2 lakh children across 750 schools and before end of 2017 we hope to revitalize 1000 schools. This is a great example of how civil society and corporate have come together to make it happen.”

Support My School is a WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiative that aims to improve basic amenities in government schools like separate toilets for boys and girls and access to water. The Schools revitalized under the campaign have served as model schools in several districts and have led to enhanced community engagement and higher emphasis on attendance and enrolment. Support My School is on track on its journey of touching 1000 schools by 2017 under the initiative.

Overall as part of Support My School campaign, 29 schools have been revitalized in Madhya Pradesh along with different implementing partners including SRFF, till date which is positively impacting more than 8000 students.
