“The country hosts the FIFA U-17 World Cup Football in 2017 and Coca-Cola is a partner. I believe that this event could be a watershed event on the Indian football canvas. We have been playing an active part in creating a talent pool and mobilizing football movement at the grassroots through he Coca-Cola Under-15 cup. We are now pleased to announce that Sourav Ganguly is on-board and a part of the team that will lead our charge towards the FIFA Under-17 World Cup football 2017. I have known Sourav for a long time and he will confess that he is a cricketer by accident and footballer by gene. He has been the Coca-Cola brand ambassador between 1997 and 2000 and he identifies with our priorities around promoting physical activity and well-being. Given his leadership credentials, his deep involvement with international sports, his team building prowess, he will bring huge value to our Healthy, active living programs including football. He has also volunteered to be a part of the Coca-Cola Support My School movement – a program that has been promoting the cause of happy, healthy schools, since 2011.”
