New Delhi, April 10, 2013: Commemorating 24 glorious years of the Limca Book of Records, Coca-Cola India in its 20th year since its re-entry to India, today launched the Limca Book of Records 2013- ‘Cinema Special’ edition. The all-new edition celebrates 100 glorious years of Indian cinema and catalogues a special Cinema section acknowledging the extraordinaryachievements of 20 Indian cinematic icons as ‘People of the Year’. These luminarieshave beenchosen by an independent panel led by Member of Parliament, HK Dua, Popular Film critic & advertising professional, Monojit Lahiri and renowned film critic specializing in South Indian cinema, Prathibha Sastry.
The 24thedition of the record book was launched at a special event by Mr. Manish Tewari, Honorable Minister of State, Information & Broadcasting, Government of India along with Mr Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia and Vijaya Ghose, Editor, Limca Book of Records .The book was launched with the dazzling performance ofpopular ace artist, Vilas Nayak, one of Asia’s leading artists. In a matter of 3-4 minutes, this talented, ambidextrous artist created magic on canvas, with his master strokes and jaw-dropping precision by etching a 6 feet by 5 feet tall cover of the Limca Book of Records 2013.
Speaking at the launch event, the Chief Guest, Mr. Manish Tewari, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, said, “I congratulate Limca Book of Records for completing 24 years of showcasing India’s best talent and achievements. This year, we celebrate 100 years of the Indian Cinema and I am glad that the new edition of Limca Book of Records has chosen to pay a tribute to the cinematic heritage of this wonderful industry. Indian cinema, over the years, has reflected the evolution of our country, including socio-economic, political and cultural changes and has etched a unique identity of its own at the global stage. I am pleased to be a part of the celebrations today, specially when it also celebrates the work of some prominent luminaries of Indian cinema.”
The highlight of the launch event was the gripping and entertaining Dastangoi performance by the dynamic duo, Mahmood Farooqui and Danish Husain.

Celebrating the magical journey of 100 years of Indian Cinema, the performance highlighted some of the most defining milestones of one of the most prominent contributors of our country’s cultural heritage. The initiative is an effort by Coca-Cola India to support this half a millennium old lost art form of Urdu storytelling.
With 20 refreshing and informative chapters, the 2013 edition of the record book celebrates over 10,000 remarkable achievements out of which 6,000 are new records, all showcasing extraordinary feats ofIndians across the globe.
