Andhra Pradesh, 5th June, 2015: On Friday, Coca-Cola India along with its bottling partner Sri Sarvaraya Sugars Ltd. commemorated the World Environment Day with the inaugurationof a water tank de-silting project at Namavaram Village, near Kesavaram. Reinforcing its commitment to creating a sustainable environment, Coca-Cola India in association with their bottling partners has undertaken several sustainable environment initiative across its operations in the country.

The water de-silting tank will have the capacity to hold21853 M3 tons of water and will be made of soil and rocks that will secure its sturdy and strong permanent structure. Through this initiative it will be possible to reduce fluoride content in ground water De-silting of the tank will result in increased recharge to the ground water which is essential due to the increasing consumption of water for various purposes such as drinking.

As a part of the celebrations, Coca-Cola Bottling partner Sri Saravaya Sugar Limited also initiated installation of 230 L.E.D lights project in Vemagiri Village, with an estimate investment of Rs.9.50 lakh.

Also, construction of 150 individual house-hold toilets under “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, in collaboration with the State Government, a budget of 4.5 lakhs for the project was raised. The individual toilets will be made of Red Brick, Black Metal, cement & sand andwith necessary sanitary fittingsto ensure that they are durable and long lasting.

Additionally,Tree Plantation Programme in Vemagiri and Dowlaiswaram Villages and the Community cleaning drive at Primary Health Centre was also held at Dowlaiswaram/Kadiyam.

At an event marked to dedicate the successful de-silting water tank, Chief Guest B. Sunil Nair – General Manager (Franchise Operations), Coca-Cola India Ltd. handed over several annual awards in different categories to representatives of cities, schools and individuals for their achievements in protecting the environment in their respective areas.

It is because of this that we have actively participated with The Coca-Cola India and Sri Sarvaraya Sugars Ltd. for the World Environment Day activities.
