Coca-Cola India in its endeavor to conserve water undertook Rain water harvesting
Projects in the RIICO industrial area. A network of four recharge shafts was
developed in the premises of the Kaladera plant in Jaipur and thirty-four
shafts in the surrounding ponds and lakes, for the purpose of Rain water harvesting.
The task included construction of natural storm water drains, field culverts
and depressions in compliance to artificial recharge of aquifers. In addition
to that, Coca-Cola India had also worked upon two more rainwater harvesting
systems in a Degree College and the other at the Government Girls Middle School
in Kaladera which includes water collection and water recharging structure.
The projects were implemented successfully as a result of which the water
table showed an increase of around six to eight feet in the water table and
the water was readily available for usage in the School and the Degree college.RIICO
appreciated the role played by Coca-Cola India in fulfilling its Social obligations
and encouraged the Corporate to undertake more of these projects in order
to preserve water by providing various incentives like giving concessionc
and tax reliefs etc.
