Mr. Garry Weare, well known author and travel writer, was the chief guest at the function and flagged off the run at 7 a.m. from the picturesque Nehru Park, a prominent landmark in the city. The runners were provided with the Coca-Cola T-shirts and caps and the students were joined by a large number of enthusiastic local residents and tourists who also took part in the Marathon.

The participants ran over a distance of 14 kilometers and were provided refreshments by the local Coca-Cola team along the route which was lined up by people from different walks who cheered the runners all the way.

Besides the winners, prizes were also given to the youngest and the oldest participants, amongst both the boys and girls.
