Partners with Narmada Apartments Welfare Association, FORCE and Moon Beverages to launch this project
Coca-Cola India in partnership with Moon Beverages Pvt Ltd, the authorized bottler of The Coca-Cola Company, the NGO FORCE and the Resident Welfare Association, Narmada Apartments dedicated 40 lakh litre of Rain Water Harvesting Project in New Delhi recently.
The announcement of this project was a part of the World Water Day celebrations undertaken by Coca-Cola this year and was dedicated by Shri V. K. Malhotra, MLA & the Leader of the opposition.
While dedicating the project, Shri V. K. Malhotra, Member of Legislative Assembly said "The availability of freshwater is a global challenge. The government and the people should join hands to improve this situation. Rain Water Harvesting has emerged as a viable option to redirect rainwater into the ground, which otherwise goes waste and we need to persuade more people and societies to take up RWH projects. I congratulate Residents Welfare Association of Narmada Apartments, FORCE and Coca-Cola India for this wonderful initiative undertaken on the World Water day. I hope that we see more such examples of private-public partnership in the area of water conservation and recharging ground water."
In addition R.P Dhawan, President, Narmada Apartments Welfare Association said, "We are very happy and proud that we were able to complete this project in time with the cooperation of Coca-Cola India & NGO FORCE. The project symbolizes the importance of public-private partnership and I thank the residents of the society who have contributed to this project. I hope that this rainwater harvesting project becomes an example for others to collectively find sustainable solution and replicate this model."

According to Sanjeev Aggarwal, Managing Director, Moon Beverages Pvt Ltd, "Water management remains a priority with us and the Coca-Cola Company pursues a 3R program of Reduce, Recycle and Replenish to achieve the objective of water management & conservation in India. Keeping this in mind, this World Water Day, we are planning to inaugurate and dedicate several water conservation project and we are partnering with leading national and local NGOs, central and state government departments and local communities in this regard. I am thankful to all the partners involved in this rainwater harvesting project who have helped us to strive towards fostering such efforts, aimed at environment conservation".
Expressing her views, Ms. Jyoti Sharma, President, FORCE, said, "Our fresh water resource is limited. However, every citizen of the country can today make a difference through responsible behavior coupled with increased awareness. The Public-Private Partnership is emerging as one of the successful models working towards issues like water conservation. We already have examples of some RWAs in Delhi that have utilized RWH techniques to their advantage."
This project served as catalyst in taking forward the spirit of public-private partnership and built on the FORCE-COCA-COLA water conservation initiative under the 'JAL BEEMA ABHIYAAN.'
Over the years Coca-Cola India has been involved in rainwater harvesting projects to protect, preserve and enhance the environment. In the Capital, the Company has initiated a large number of rainwater harvesting projects in partnership with local NGOs and State Ground Water Departments. It has also installed more than 500 RWH structures in 22 states of the country for the cause of water management.
