Delhi Public School (Rohini), Delhi Wins the National Championship Finals of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2008

Delhi Public School (Rohini), Delhi won the National Championship Finals of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2008 held at Delhi Public School, R K Puram in Delhi. The team of Jai Bassi and Eishit Gupta were declared the national champions. Not far behind St Augustine Day School, Kolkata and Army School-Mumbai emerged as the 1st and the 2nd runners up in the
National
Championship finals of the Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2008. Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India and Dr (Mrs) Shyama Chona, Padmashree & Padmabhushan awardee, Principal, Delhi Public School, R K Puram, Delhi, felicitated the winning teams.

Speaking at the event, Dr (Mrs) Shyama Chona, Padmashree & Padmabhushan awardee, Principal, Delhi Public School, R K Puram, Delhi, “Initiatives like Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2008 are an ideal learning platform for students. It enhances their awareness around a variety of subjects and in the process also stimulates their creative thinking. I thank Coca-Cola India for organizing such an exciting initiative for students.”

The National Championship finals were conducted by Derek O’ Brien, renowned Quizmaster. He quizzed the five competing schools on a range of topics which included general awareness, out-of-the-box thinking, and subjectslike geology, advertising, trivia featured in the Limca Book of Records.

“At Coca-Cola India, we believe that education is the basis for social change”, said Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India while congratulating the winning teams. He further added, “As a company committed to sustainability and well being of communities, we have been contributing in our own small way to the cause of education. The roll out of the National championship of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2008 in over 260 schools in 7 cities is a part of the same endeavor. In 2009, our plan is to roll out the quiz championship in over 3000 schools across 75 cities.”

More about Limca Book of Records Quiz

‘Limca Book of Records Quiz 2008’ was being organized to promote knowledge and awareness amongst the young minds of the country. The quiz aptly takes its lead name from the Limca Book of Records (LBR) as the record book celebrates outstanding achievements of Indians across the globe and is a source of inspiration especially for the country’s youth.

The multicity initiative was launched in partnership with Derek O’ Brien & Associates with a participation of over 125,000 young geniuses from grade 8th -12th. As part of the initiative, a series of quiz competitions were organized across 260 schools in 7 cities - Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Amritsar and Ludhiana
