Coca-Cola in India recently sponsored the Golden Spoon Awards at the Food Forum India, 2009 in Mumbai. Sanjiv Gupta, Director- Customer Commercial Leadership, Coca-Cola India presented the award for the Most Admired Food Professional of the Year (Food & Beverage Services) to Amit Burman, Vice-Chairman, Dabur India and Chairman,Lite Bite Foods. The Most Admired Food Professional of the Year (Food & Groceries in Retail) went to Sadashiv Nayak, President, Food Bazaar. The Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) awards went to Haldiram’s (Indian fast food chain) and Pizza Hut (International fast food chain).

Started in the year, 2008, the Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards 2009, recognize excellence in food retailing. The awards also acknowledge and honor the innovative spirit of leaders in the dynamic Indian Food Retail Industry.

The Coca-Cola Golden Spoon Awards, 2009 were given out based on the consumer poll across India across seven major cities. The poll also had participation from the leading industry experts in the field of food & beverage and food & grocery retailing. The other factors for the award also included considered were retail presence (outlets), geographic coverage, operational retail space, turnover, year growth, new formats introduced, marketing innovations & various communication initiatives. The winners were decided by the jury comprising of global consulting firms and leading industry observers and analysts.
