Blood Donation Camp Organized and Balwadis Opend

Coca-Cola India in association with the Red Cross Society of India organized a Blood Donation Camp at its Dasna bottling plant outside Delhi in the northern State of Uttar Pradesh on July 31. More than 200 employees and local residents came to donate blood on the occasion. On the same day, in another simultaneous event the company opened two renovated Balwadis (schools) at neighbouring villages of Dehera and Pipleda. These schools will benefit more than 80 unprivileged children in the age-group of 3-6 years. Besides providing for the flooring etc. the Company has donated school uniforms, stationary and furniture and is also providing for the teachers’ salaries at the Balwadis.


Both the Blood Donation Camp and the Balwadis were inaugurated by the local MP Surendra Prakash Goel at the Blood Donation Camp at Dasna in association with Red Cross Member of Parliament, Mr. Surendra Prakash Goel, who appreciated the Company s initiatives and said, "Good education is the key to success and good infrastructure is an important resource for imparting quality education. Thanks to the generosity and the tireless work of Coca-Cola India, the rehabilitation of the buildings is a milestone for our development program.” He added, “By undertaking the initiative of organizing a blood donation camp Coca-Cola India has shown once again, that it is an asset to the community and the region."


In addition to the above initiatives, the Company has been involved in a number of development activities in the vicinity of the plant covering six villages - Khichra, Pipleda, Dehera, Nangla, Hasanpur, Dhaulana. These include educational programs for girl child and adult women, running of a primary health care centre, organizing cultural programs on National Days and distributing blankets and woolens to the poor.
