Celebrating 60 glorious years of India’s independence, Coca-Cola India unveiled special edition of Limca Book of Records - India Extraordinaire- 60 years. 60 Luminaries at ’Incredible India@60’ festival held in New York.

Honorable Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Shri Kamal Nath & Muhtar Kent, President and COO, The Coca-Cola Company, unveiled the first of its kind book that catalogues the contribution of 60 Indians who’ve made a significant contribution to the country.

Launched in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) this 152 page limited edition coffee table book showcases the contributions of 60 stalwarts across 13 fields ranging from Freedom Struggle, Government, Development, Business, Agriculture and Arts to Sciences, Literature, Entertainment, Adventure, Sports, Medical Science and Defense.

Eminent personalities like Sunil Mittal, Mira Nair, Naina Lal Kidwai, Rohini Nilekini, Ritu Kumar who’ve done India proud & Limca Book of Records holders including Prof Pawan Sinha, Charuvi Agarwal, Kiran Karadi, Padma Subba,Sudarshan Patnaik, Ruby Dhalla  were also felicitated at the event.

I compliment Coca-Cola India for the Limca Book of Records - India Extraordinaire, 60 years, 60 Luminaries, which stands as a special and a befitting tribute to our country, and more importantly, the talent that the people of India represent.  These luminaries showcase the indomitable spirit and energy of a new, young and zealous India”, said Shri Kamal Nath at the event.

To create awareness about the indomitable spirit of Indians & to connect them globally, the new website of Limca Book of Records, www.limcabookofrecords.in was also launched by Sunil Bharti Mittal, President, CII & Chairman & Group CEO Bharti Enterprises.

“The book celebrates extraordinary achievements of Indians across the globe”, said Muhtar Kent, noting, “India is world’s fastest growing economies but what really defines the country is her indomitable spirit. The achievements of the 60 stalwarts captured in this special edition subtly reveal the grandeur of India’s 60 years of glorious independence.”

The list of 60 luminaries who grace this special edition book were drawn by the experienced panelists HK Dua, Editor-in-Chief, Tribune (India’s leading newspaper) and Professor Dipankar Gupta, Jawaharlal Nehru University after going through very stringent selection criteria.

The pictures contribution in the book is made by renowned photographers, Raghu Rai and Atul Kasbekar. The special edition book begins with the pages of freedom struggle which showcase the contributions of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, moves on to the literary pieces of Rabindranath Tagore and melodies of Kishore Kumar and the business strategies of JRD Tata, and Narayana Murthy. Renowned lyricist and poet, Gulzar, has penned the foreword for the book.
