National Championship Finals of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2009 Organized


Nath Valley School, Aurangabad, adjudged National Champions from amongst 3100 schools, drawn from 75 cities across India

In a scintillating display of intelligence, quick thinking and the ability to hold nerves, Nath Valley School, Aurangabad won the National Championship Finals of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2009. The quiz championship organized today, at the Satya Sai Auditorium, Lodhi Road, New Delhi was attended by school children (class 8 to 12th), teachers, school principals, NGO's and the media. The school team from Aurangabad was given a tough fight by Kerala Samajam Model School Jamshedpur and by St. Paul's English School, Bangalore, who emerged as the 1st and the 2nd runners up in the National Finals of the Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2009. Comparing the National Quiz finals, renowned quiz master Derek O' Brien ensured that all the participating school teams and the audience were fully involved and engaged for over 3 hours.

The winners and the runners up school teams were felicitated by Mahesh Bhupathi, Padma Shri and India's Ace Tennis Champion, Atul Singh, President & CEO, Coca-Cola India & South West Asia and Vijaya Ghose, Editor, Limca Book of Records.

During the award presentation, Mahesh Bhupathi, Padma Shri and India's Ace Tennis Champion said, "Limca Book of Records is a great platform for Indian record holders. Initiatives like Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2009 is an ideal learning platform for bringing out quizzing talents of young Indians. It enhances their awareness around a variety of subjects and in the process also stimulates their creative thinking."

'Limca Book of Records Quiz 2009 is organized to promote knowledge and awareness amongst the young minds of the country. The quiz aptly takes its lead name from the Limca Book of Records (LBR) as the record book celebrates outstanding achievements of Indians across the globe and is a source of inspiration especially for the country's youth. The Quiz was a thrilling combination of knowledge and intellect and covered a wide range of subjects like general awareness, sports, history, geography, science, music etc.

The roll out of the National championship of Limca Book of Records Quiz, 2009 aims to promote the culture of quest for knowledge amongst students, enabling them to emerge as enriched, well-informed and global citizens. The multicity national quiz initiative was launched in partnership with 'Know & Grow with Derek' with a participation of over 17000 young geniuses from class 8-12. As part of the initiative, quiz competitions were organized in three stages - Inter-school, Semi- finals and National finals, involving over 3100 schools in 75 cities, over a nine month period - April to December, 2009.
